This is our film poster and magazine

Evaluation question 1

1. in what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Our film has challenged the stereotypical characters in a thriller film, the characters that have challenged the stereotypes are:
The main antagonist is a female which isn’t normal to see in thriller films, female characters in thriller films are usually used as prizes in the propp narrative theory, but we have made her look like she was a damsel in distress.

The mentor, usually the mentor isn’t a person of a different ethnic background, it is usually a person that is older that provides their own experiences as wisdom for the protagonist and also the person is white especially in Hollywood films.

The main protagonist, this character in thrillers is usually a built up man who has been through vigorous training and traumatic experiences, whereas in our film the main protagonist is a just an average Joe.

Our film has also stuck to some stereotypes of characters this has been shown through the main protagonist having henchmen surrounding him.

And also one of the henchmen is also a person of a different ethnic background which is usually seen in thrillers for example Russian hit man.

Our film has also challenged the conventions of having guns and explosions in a thriller film, we haven’t been able to use them due to our surroundings, but we have tried to use violence for example the punch scene with the main protagonist and one of the three blockers.

In editing we have conformed to the conventions of a thriller film as we have used quick editing techniques we have also used dark lighting where possible. We have also used many of the shots that are usually present in a thriller film.

Evaluation question 2

2. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
We have made our ancillary task contain an action code from our media product.

We used this as it would make the audience wonder why this action is happening and what he is hiding from. We have made it an action shot as we want our poster to be eye catchy and exciting and not boring.
We thought that the combination of our main media product and our ancillary tasks combine very well making it effective for selling as from the poster the audience can pick up on that our film is going to be an action film, it is going to be an adrenaline rush for them as there is a lot of energetic shots. The poster part of the ancillary task also grabs the audiences attention thorugh the mystery of the taglines

Evaluation question 3

3. What have you learned from your audience feedback?
We have interviewed many people on what they think our film is like:

We asked them these questions:

1. Does our film represent a thriller/action film?
2. The main quality of a thriller/action film is the excitement, not knowing what’s going to happen; did these qualities show in our film?

F   From these surveys I have learned that our film is really confusing for the audience so I should have simplified it a little so the audience could follow it better, but on the other hand some said that this was a good thing as it made the audience question the characters and also that they were able to distinguish what role the which characters were taking. We also learned that our film did manage to possess the main qualities of a thriller/action film.
We also got feedback from the audiences reactions while watching the trailer, we got a very good audience feedback, we also got a round of appaulse when the film finished

What was difficult with our film

Deconstruction of our poster

Distributions

We are going to use festivals such as the Toronto film festival which in the past few years past 50 years of amateur films. We are also going to use social media to promote our film with our trailer. Also as technology is becoming more and more essential in peoples lives, also as the younger generations which fall into our target audience they don't always have the time to go to the cinema to see our film so we are going to use the internet to show our film. One problem with this is that piracy would increase.
